Virgin Galactic flies into space for the first time today in 84 million Swiss francs: this is the most expensive painting ever auctioned in Europe

Space tourism company Virgin Galactic plans to make its first commercial space flight on Thursday.

During the 90-minute flight, two members of the Italian Air Force and an Italian researcher want to conduct a series of experiments. An aircraft carrier will initially lift the spacecraft “VSS Unity” from a runway in the US state of New Mexico to an altitude of about 15 kilometers.

The spaceship, which looks like a private jet, then continues to fly at an altitude of over 80 kilometers. There, the occupants spend several minutes in zero gravity before the “VSS Unity” returns to Earth.

The company, founded by British billionaire Richard Branson, completed another test flight into space at the end of May after a break of almost two years. Virgin Galactic’s space tourism program has been repeatedly delayed, especially after a 2014 accident that killed a pilot. (sda/afp)
