Violent incidents, with the arrest of thirteen people, in protests for the death of a 17-year-old teenager at the hands of the French police in the district Nanterre, on the outskirts of Paris, France. The young man died on Tuesday morning, reports Europa Press. when the police shot him in traffic control. Agents accused the driver of running over the officer, but that version was denied by a video posted on social media in which the vehicle appears stopped with an agent in the window pointing at the victim.

The unrest in the last few hours has forced the deployment of the French police’s riot squad, the Company of Republican Security (CRS). However, the police headquarters called for a “restrained” situation with the interventions of its agents on the streets, according to the BFMTV channel.

They were there since the afternoon protests on the streets of Nanterre, breaking city furniture and trash cans. Firefighters set up a large security perimeter because they were afraid of an explosion due to the presence of gas cylinders.

Agents used tear gas to suppress the protesters who rose up barricades to prevent entry into the neighborhood and shout anti-police slogansaccording to Europa Press.

The prosecutor’s office in Nanterre, which opened an investigation into attempted murder by the authorities, announced the arrest of one of the police officers who is in custody in connection with the death of a 17-year-old. The family announced through their lawyers that they will file a lawsuit. One for murder, aimed at the police officer who shot, and the other for a false public act, channel TF1 collects.

The mayor of Nanterre, Patrick Jarry, asked this Tuesday that the circumstances of the tragedy be clarified as soon as possible. seeking to “pacify” the population. The city council provided the police with video surveillance footage from the scene.

Jarry, who expressed his condolences to the loved ones of the deceased, appealed “to each one of them for restraint and dignity, despite the legitimate emotions that this tragedy arouses”, reports Europa Press.
