Wagner mercenaries occupied military facilities in Rostov-on-Don on the morning of June 24. The city of 1.1 million is home to the headquarters of the Russian army for the south of the country, from where the offensive in Ukraine is being monitored.
Due to the short power struggle between Prigozhin and Putin, the authorities in Moscow have declared a state of anti-terrorism. Roadblocks have been set up and people have been asked to stay at home.
The uprising in Rostov-on-Don attracts many spectators who pose for photos in front of tanks and with Wagner boss Prigozhin.
Wagner troops were in the southern Russian city of Rostov-on-Don until early Sunday morning. To the applause of the civilian population, the first mercenaries left the captured headquarters.
