This is what the small submersibles that occasionally take tourists to the Titanic wreck look like.

As the BBC reports, citing the Coast Guard in Boston, Massachusetts, a search for the submarine is underway. It is still unclear how many people were on board at the time of the disappearance.

Occasionally, submarines take paying tourists to visit the Titanic wreck. The submarine company is probably the company “OceanGate”. Your submarine, called “Titan”, can reach a depth of up to 4,000 meters. There is room for five people. A trip costs $250,000.

Titanic sank in 1912

The famous shipwreck lies 3800 meters deep at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. It is located about 600 km off the coast of the Canadian island of Newfoundland.

The passenger ship, the largest ship of its time, collided with an iceberg on its maiden voyage from Southampton to New York in 1912. Of the 2,200 passengers and crew on board, more than 1,500 were killed. The Titanic has been extensively explored since the wreck was discovered in 1985. (nad)
