Selenskyj mocks Russian propaganda – the nightly update without photos Three arrests for the rainbow parade in Vienna on suspicion of terrorism

According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Russia should prepare its citizens for the loss of occupied territories – here is the nightly update.

Zelenskyy calls Russia’s future “devastated” by war

With the war, Russia has not only destroyed its own future to take the territories, but will also lose all occupied territories, Zelenskyj said in his video that will be distributed every evening in Kiev on Sunday. “There is no alternative to our steps to end the occupation and there will be none.” Step by step, Ukrainian troops advanced to liberate their country, he said.

Zelenskyi announced that Ukraine expects new pledges of military aid from its allies in the coming days. During the visit of representatives of several African countries to the head of the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg, he said: They could have been convinced there that Ukraine was out for peace, while Russia wanted war to “keep destroying life” .

According to the African delegation with representatives from South Africa, Egypt, Senegal, Zambia, the Republic of Congo and Uganda, they have developed a ten-point plan as part of their peace initiative. After nearly 16 months of Russian offensive war, hopes of success are slim. Prior to their visit to Saint Petersburg, the delegation visited Zelenskyy in Kiev on Friday. This presupposes the withdrawal of Russian troops for negotiations.

In his video, Zelenskyi also poked fun at Putin, who claimed in St. Petersburg on Friday that Russian forces in Kiev had already destroyed five American Patriot air defense systems. However, according to US media, there are only two of these systems in Ukraine. The Ukrainian leader said all systems are intact. “No patriot is destroyed!” he stressed. In the past seven days alone, three dozen Russian missiles have been destroyed.

Brigadier General: Unwillingness to Assess Ukraine’s Offensive

Brigadier General Christian Freuding, head of the Defense Ministry’s Ukrainian Situation Center, said caution should be exercised when assessing the Ukrainian counter-offensive. “We have to be a little careful not to get presumptuous in judging Ukrainian tactics from the Berlin summer terrace,” Freuding said in the ARD “Report from Berlin” on Sunday night.

Ukrainians have paid a high price in this war for more than 400 days. “And I think we have neither the perspective nor the right to judge the Ukrainian troops’ actions in terms of good, bad, appropriate or inappropriate.” According to Freuding, Ukraine is very restrictive with information about the situation. “We call this militarily “operational security”. That is understandable, of course, because otherwise the enemy could draw conclusions from it.”

Freuding said he would disagree with the assessment that Ukraine’s actions were not going very well. There is a recapture of the initiative by the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the first offensive successes. “But we also saw that the defensive positions of the Russian armed forces were very well prepared.” The Ukrainian armed forces are currently consolidating to see where and with what they succeeded.

Air Force exercise “Air Defender 2023”: ground attack aircraft to Lithuania

In the shadow of Russia’s war against Ukraine, participants in this week’s Air Defender 2023 exercise are flying fighter jets on NATO’s eastern flank. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, six A-10 ground attack aircraft would fly to Lithuania for takeoff and landing, the air force told the German news agency in Berlin. At the beginning of the week, four F-16 aircraft and two each of F-15 and Eurofighter and a tanker aircraft will fly over Poland.

According to this information, the eastern NATO partners have requested such a signal of reassurance and military cohesion. Until June 23, 25 countries with 250 aircraft and 10,000 soldiers will participate in the exercise under German leadership. NATO is involved. “Air Defender 2023” is the largest air force relocation exercise since the creation of NATO and uses a fictional scenario in the airspace over Germany to practice how the Western Defense Alliance responds to an attack by an Eastern Alliance, retaking areas already occupied by the enemy.

More than 1000 flights have now been made during the exercise. Luftwaffe inspector Ingo Gerhartz described this as an outstanding achievement on Sunday. He said, “Half is done.” The relocation of more than 1,600 tons of material and 100 aircraft from the USA to Germany went smoothly.

The lieutenant general said of the practice: “In the beginning there was a sticking point here and there. Different education levels, language challenges and technology had to get going first.” It is becoming clear that “Air Defender 2023” has operational, logistical and human added value for all involved.

Monday will be important

In eastern and southern Ukraine, the offensive of Kiev troops against Russian aggression continues. Recent territorial gains have also been made, with Ukraine liberating cities and regions from Russian occupation.

A meeting between Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) and Chinese Premier Li Qiang in Berlin is likely to be about Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. Beijing is trying to mediate the conflict with its special envoy Li Hui. (sda/dpa)
