British King Charles (73) does not seem to be a big fan of Liz Truss (47), the new prime minister. And he makes no secret of that, as it turned out on Wednesday at a meeting.
The Prime Minister visited the monarch during the weekly audience at Buckingham Palace. “Your Majesty, good to see you,” Truss said in greeting, shaking the king’s hand after he bowed to him.
“So you’re back” (“So you’re back”), he replies. Truss kept his composure: “Well, it’s my great pleasure.” King Charles cannot share this joy. Because his next “dear oh dear” should come across as a joke – but the sighing undertone is hardly hidden.
Not the first undiplomatic statement
It is not the first time that the behavior of the new king has attracted attention. Recently, the fill drama caused a stir. In mid-September he visited Hillsborough Castle in Northern Ireland with his wife, Queen Camilla (75). There he signed a guestbook.
As he was about to hand the pen to Camilla, he discovered the ink was leaking. Charles lost his nerve and cursed, “Oh god, I hate that pen!” As the king tried to clean his finger, he continued to rant, “I can’t handle this damn thing… every damn time.”
Before that, he was annoyed by a pen tray that got in the way of signing some documents related to his proclamation. He then hissed at his associates to clear the box. (Man)
