Former manager of the morgue at the Faculty of Medicine Harvard University He was accused, along with four other people, of stealing and selling donated human body parts for medical research, the US Department of Justice reported.
According to the indictment, Cedric Lodge, 55, would steal organs and other parts of corpses that were stored in the morgue as part of the Harvard donation program, from 2018 to 2022, during the period in which he was the administrator.
Wife of former manager, Denise Lodge , 63, is also charged in the case along with Katrina Maclean, 44; Joshua Taylor, 46; and Mathew Lampi, 52.
At times, Lodge allegedly took the stolen remains to his home, where he and his wife sold the remains to Maclean, Taylor, Lampi and others.
The remains Lodge took included heads, brains, skin and bones.
Investigators discovered the couple also sent the remains through the United States Postal Service. NOW to Pennsylvania and other parts of the country, according to court documents.
Lodge would also allow Maclean and Taylor into the Harvard morgue inspect the corpses and choose what to buy.
The couple appeared in federal court in Concord, New Hampshire on Wednesday to hear the charges.
MacLean also appeared at a court hearing in Boston, where prosecutors said the defendant agreed to buy Lodge “two dissected faces for $600” in October 2020, CBS television reported.
Two other people have also been charged in the investigation: Jeremy Pauley, 41, and Candace Chapman Scott.
