The hearing of Donald Trump (77) before the US federal court in Miami caused a stir on Tuesday. The former US president faces a new indictment over the scandal involving hundreds of classified documents.
As soon as Trump left the courtroom, an incident erupted. A demonstrator in a prisoner’s costume ran into the street and attacked the convoy of the ex-US president.
The black cars had just left the underground parking garage. The man had a poster in his hands. Inscription: “Lock him up”, meaning “Lock him up”.
The secret service and the police were alert and wanted to arrest the man immediately. However, the action had also called Trump fans to the scene. They broke through the barriers and attempted to capture the Trump opponent, which they briefly succeeded.
A man in a red Make America Great Again hat punched him in the face. He was then pinned to the ground by the guards.
Who is the man who caused the brief moment of shock? His name is Domenic Santana and he is from Cuba. He had been planning the action for a long time, he told the t-online portal.
“I’m not a Democrat, but I know what’s right, what’s wrong, and what’s appropriate,” the news portal said. What Trump did was always wrong.
The purpose of all this? “I wanted to put my shield in his face to remind him of his own line against his rival Hillary Clinton.” During the 2016 presidential election campaign, Trump repeatedly called for Clinton’s arrest for using her private email address as a minister for official messages with the slogan “Lock her up.”
For Santana, however, there is much more at stake. “This goes way beyond emails,” he tells t-online. He doesn’t understand why even his own mother is “so blind to reality and would re-elect Trump.”
Trump faces jail time for allegedly hiding secret documents at his private residence, Mar-a-Lago. Santana wished Trump “a hard prison bed, with no ceiling.” Now he himself ends up behind bars for the time being. (nad)
