It was a scene for the history books.
Canadian Nick Taylor sank a 22-yard putt to become the first Canadian to win the Canadian Open in 59 years. At that moment, another Canadian golfer, Adam Hadwin, rushed over and sprinkled champagne over him. A guard, mistaking Hadwin for an intruder, threw him to the ground.
The spectacular collision was captured on video from multiple angles.
Hadwin was declared sane after the incident and, in typical Canadian fashion, apologized for the attack.
Sorry to leave you hanging, I had to get the toddler ready for bed. I love reporting that @hadwingolf is still one of the lands of the living and, in true Canadian form, apologized to the guard for his approach.
