Orthopedist Steffen Braun, 53, was reported missing from hospital in the West German town of Daun by his supervisor on January 3 after failing to show up for work. On the same day, his car, a black Ford Fiesta license plate DAU-PS 908, was found burning in a forest. The car was parked on a forest path on the L52 between Greimerath in the municipality of Bernkastel-Wittlich and Wittlich. Now the investigators are asking the public for help and hoping for new clues about what might have happened to Braun. The doctor is described as follows: about 1.70 meters tall, strongly built, about 85 kilograms. Braun is balding with a few gray hairs. His beard varies, sometimes it is shaved, usually he has a three-day beard. He has four Chinese characters tattooed on his left chest.

Where are his phone and wallet?

The 53-year-old normally wears glasses and a hearing aid. Both were found in his home. However, other personal items such as his mobile phone, wallet, clothes and a large suitcase are missing.

Braun lives with his family in Gerolstein. He was last seen on December 30, 2022 at his workplace at Maria Hilf Hospital in Daun. The police now hope to receive new information from the population via the ZDF program “Aktenzeichen XY unsolved” on Wednesday evening.
