President of Ukraine, Volodymyr ZelenskI, signed the law on moving the celebration Victory Day -which celebrates the defeat of Nazism in Europe during the Second World War- until May 8according to the website of the Verkhovna Rada.
Since 2015, Ukraine has officially celebrated Victory Day on May 9, as has Russia, while Remembrance and Reconciliation Day is celebrated on May 8. Last month, Zelensky issued a decree declaring May 9 as Europe Day.
The Victory Day celebration is based on the signing of the German capitulation. The signing took place on May 8 at 22:34 in Berlin. However, in Russia it was 00:43 on the 9th, so the event is commemorated on this day in the Slavic country.
