German Christian B.* (45), who is responsible for the disappearance of three-year-old Maddie, is also said to have committed several sexual crimes. The public prosecutor’s office in Braunschweig (D) has since filed a complaint against him. He is facing three cases of rape and two cases of child sexual abuse.
According to the prosecutor, the suspect is the man also linked to the alleged kidnapping and murder of British woman Maddie McCann in 2007.
The new indictment lists five specific cases allegedly committed by the German in Portugal. For example, between 2000 and 2006 he would have tied up an unknown 70- to 80-year-old woman in her holiday home and then raped her.
Victims were between 14 and 70
At the same time, Christian B. allegedly tied a naked 14-year-old girl to a wooden pole, beat her and then forced her into oral sex.
In 2004, the suspect allegedly broke into an apartment. He threatened a 20-year-old sleeping Irish woman with a knife and brutally raped her. The suspect filmed the crime with a camera he had with him. There is also incriminating video material for the other offenses.
The public prosecutor has issued an arrest warrant because the suspect runs the risk of escaping and repeating the crime. However, B. will not appear in court this year, reports Keystone-SDA news agency. The responsible criminal division is now going to investigate in a so-called interim procedure whether the indictment is allowed and whether the main proceedings are opened. (jwg)
