He was convicted of murdering three people and injuring more than 20 after his alleged crusade against technology and industrialized society.

Ted Kaczynski, also known as unabombarder, was found dead in his prison cell in Colorado, in which he served eight life sentences. The Unabomber became famous for performing a series of letter-bombers over a period of nearly 20 years, from the late 1970s to the mid-1990s.

Theodore John Kaczynski was born on May 22, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois. From an early age, he showed an exceptional talent for mathematics and he was accepted to Harvard University at the age of 16. Kaczynski graduated from this prestigious educational center in 1962. He later earned a doctorate in mathematics from the University of Michigan. He later became an assistant professor at the University of California, Berkeley, where he taught the same academic discipline.

But everything changed in 1969. At the age of 27, Kaczynski abandoned his academic career and moved to an isolated cabin in Montana. During this time he began to develop a deep aversion to modern technology and industrialized society. He developed an extremist ideology and decided to put it into action.

The seventies come and the Unabomber is born. Kaczynski started sending bombs to various people and organizations. His main targets were people connected to technology, such as scientists, engineers and company executives. The bomb packages were carefully designed and caused the death of three people, as well as numerous injuries.

Kaczynski continued to send letters to the media and prominent figures, expressing his distorted vision of modern society. He continued with his terrorist activities, which he tried to justify with elaborate texts in which he described the reasons for his criminal activities.

In 1996 Kaczynski’s brother David recognized his writing style in the manifesto and alerted the authorities, leading to his arrest at his cabin in Montana. At the trial, Kaczynski was declared mentally competent to stand trial and pleaded guilty to all charges related to the bombings. In 1998, Kaczynski was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. He was currently serving time in a maximum security prison in Colorado.
