Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi was admitted today to the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan (Northern Italy) for a series of operations. “scheduled” controls for his leukemiawhich was confirmed by his medical team, who ruled out any “critical aspect or other alarms”, reported Efe.

“President Silvio Berlusconi is currently admitted to the San Raffaele Hospital to undergo scheduled check-ups due to a known hematological pathology,” the health center said in a statement. And adds: “The progress of these controls to date corresponds to normal clinical criteria in medical practice and does not respond to any critical aspect or alarm”.

Berlusconi (86) thus returns to the hospital three weeks after his discharge, after spending 44 days in the hospital with pneumonia aggravated by leukemia which, as his medical team discovered then, he has been suffering from for a long time. This weekend, the tycoon was due to meet at his villa in Arcore (north) with the top of his party, the conservative Forza Italia, part of the current government coalition led by Italian Prime Minister Giorgio Meloni.

The elder daughter of the politician and entrepreneur, Marina Berlusconi, president of the family holding Fininvest, appeared in the hospital. One of the first to wish him “strength” was his friend Matteo Salvini, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure. His previous hospitalization began on April 5 in the intensive care unit of San Raffaele. due to pneumonia and transferred to the facility after twelve days.

He was finally discharged on May 19, after being in the hospital for 44 days. During that time, his girlfriend, 53 years younger deputy Marta Fascina, was with him all the time he was visited by his closest associates, partners, such as Meloni, and his familyas well as his five children, as well as numerous friends.

From the hospital, the tycoon even appeared in two videos: one to encourage Italians to vote in local elections, and the other to intervene at the convention of his party, in which He claimed he was “ready” to return to battle. A medical report from his trusted doctor, Alberto Zangrillo, revealed that Berlusconi was being treated for a “lung infection” caused by a “chronic hematological condition he has had for a long time: chronic myelomonocytic leukemia”.

Chronic myeloid leukemia is a form of blood cancer that can occur especially in people over 60 years old, and doctors then specified that was under “specialized cytoreductive treatment” and chemotherapy. Over the years, Berlusconi was hospitalized on several occasions: one of them he had a pacemaker implanted, he was also admitted for covid-19, and one of the last, in January 2022, he was admitted for a urinary infection.
