That said the inspector of the Luftwaffe, Lieutenant General Ingo Gerhartz, Friday at the base in Jagel, Schleswig-Holstein. “A total of 25 countries are ready to start this exercise on Monday.”

There are 250 aircraft involved, including 190 fighters. “This move, unique in its scope, was completed in less than a week. We, the various air forces, have shown that we can react and act very quickly.” The US Air Force alone has flown 1,500 tons of material to Germany in recent days. “The transfer has been absolutely flawless so far.”

The exercise under German leadership will last until June 23. It is the largest air force deployment exercise in NATO history.
