These historic photos show how Switzerland’s ski resorts have changed Titlis, Wengen, Zermatt, Davos and St Moritz have changed in recent years. In addition to the means of transport, there is also a clear evolution in outdoor clothing.
At the end of June 1965, the first line from Trübsee to the middle station was put into operation. The second part followed in 1967.
Outdoor clothing looked very different.
Another milestone was the Titlis Rotair, the world’s first revolving cable car. The maiden voyage took place on December 20, 1992.
In 2014, the Rotair received two new cabins and since then the entire gondola has rotated once on its own axis during the journey.
On Sept 22 1977 The intensive construction work for the gondola and cable car to the 3817 meter high Klein Matterhorn started, as the photo of the intermediate station shows.
On 23 Dec 1979 the railway is then put into operation.
