This candidate is ruined by her own father

RTL starts the new year with a “Who wants to become a millionaire?” week of 3 million euros. The first broadcast was not painful for most candidates.

“Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” Fans get their money’s worth early in the year: there is a show with Günther Jauch every evening until Friday. All candidates who have earned at least 16,000 euros in the programs are asked in the last issue at the end of the week to return – and continue to gamble.

Günther Jauch will make you an offer: For what amount of insurance are the candidates willing to try their luck again?

But first to the first show, it was really tough. Of the five women and men, only two managed to raise the necessary €16,000 to be in the final show at the end of the week – three fell to €500 and the low of reality.

The evening ended particularly bitterly for Anna Öhlrich-Faustmann. The assistant physician for gynecology marches on quite well until the question of 64,000 euros. And it doesn’t seem so wild there either, because: the father of the candidate and one of the phone jokes is a lawyer by profession – and this is exactly the subject of the question of 64,000 euros:

You might think that not much has to go wrong. The father is also “75 percent” sure that answer B, the inheritance, is the correct one. And: “If my father says so, that’s right,” says Anna Öhlrich-Faustmann. A fatal mistake that cost the young woman 63,500 euros. Because: Answer A, citizenship, would have been correct.

In citizenship law, the “blood right” refers to the principle of descent, according to which a child receives citizenship from its parents (or at least one of their parents), regardless of their place of birth. In contrast, according to the ‘law of the land’, a state grants its citizenship to all children born on its territory.

Günther Jauch and the candidate themselves cannot fathom why the candidate’s father answers this question incorrectly despite legal knowledge. Later in the evening, Michael Blum, a former journalist and current spokesperson for a medical technology company, fares much better.

The 57-year-old effortlessly climbs the Jauch question ladder and only has to draw the first joker when the question of 32,000 euros is asked.

His motto: “500 euros is enough for a good meal.” So he likes to gamble, and he does it very well. The man from Wiesbaden, who says he spent 15 to 20 years working on “Who wants to be a millionaire?” advertised doesn’t have much to gamble at all – he just knows the most about it.

So basically the tricky 125,000 euro question:

Michael Blum says he’s seen all four movies. And: He also read “Forrest Gump”. “And that’s what the book was called, damn it…” Given the high amount, Blum doesn’t dare to gamble for once and draws the extra candidate joker.

A young woman stands up – for her mother, who wouldn’t have dared, but who also remembers reading “Forrest Gump” in English class.

“What leches!” (eg: “To the devil!”) Blum casually calls out to his extra Hispanic prankster before finally deciding on this answer.

With the question of 500,000 euros, a music question, but then it’s finally over. But: on Friday, Blum gets another chance to earn a nice amount. But whether he dares to risk his 125,000 euros and continue gambling remains to be seen.
