The current temperature record comes from the hot summer of 2003. On August 11, 2003, the thermometer in Grono (GR) indicated 41.5 degrees Celsius.
However, MeteoSwiss states that the Grono monitoring station was then on a sunny slope, slightly above its current location. Under the current circumstances, “only” 40.5 degrees Celsius would have been measured.
In the summer of 2022, only one of the weather records below was broken. In Geneva there was more sunshine in July at 373 hours than anywhere else in Switzerland. The previous record came from Bern with 370 hours. It was founded in 1911.
