By switching to the cheapest health insurer, Swiss can save an average of CHF 428 per person per year on compulsory basic insurance next year. This is according to a study by the online comparison service Moneyland.
Moneyland writes that if all Swiss people switch to the health insurer that is cheapest for them, they can save about CHF 3.7 billion in premiums. In fact, according to the comparison service’s assessment, significantly less than 10 percent of policyholders will actually change health insurer by 2023.
According to the research, the savings potential due to a change of supplier and model for the coming year will be higher than in previous years. Young people can save the most, on average 529 francs. For children it is 215 francs.
Broken down by canton, the potential savings in Ticino are greatest at 612 francs if you switch to the cheapest insurer. Last year, the potential was greatest in the canton of Geneva. The inhabitants of Ticino will have to deal with an above-average premium increase in 2023. You could compensate for this with cash register changes.
The average savings potential by switching adult health insurance is lowest in the canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden at 257 francs per person per year, followed by the canton of Uri at 295 francs. According to Moneyland, a lot of money can also be saved by changing the model within a health insurer. (saw/sda)
