Are you chaotic, swear a lot and stay up late? Good news: you are intelligent

Damn shit! Good news from the world of science: do you swear a lot, does your apartment look like an underground club after New Year’s Eve, are you good at being active at night and can you count your friends on one hand? Then you could be blessed with greater intelligence.

A study from the University of Minnesota confirms previous research suggesting that intelligent people often work and live in highly disordered ways. So if you spend less time tidying and cleaning, your brain is probably busy with more important things. The research also shows that a messy environment promotes creative processes.

“Messy environments seem to inspire us to think beyond the familiar and thereby develop new, fresh ideas. A tidy desk, on the other hand, favors the traditional and allows us to play it safe when thinking.

Only fools swear. People with limited vocabulary swear. At least that’s what they say. But that is not true. Studies have shown the opposite: Those who said more curse words in a minute tended to perform better on IQ tests. According to the researchers, skillful use of bad words is a sign of rhetorical power and therefore anything but an expression of verbal shortcomings.

Do you like staying up late? That could be a sign of intelligence. Because: Researchers have discovered a link between nocturnal activity and high IQ levels. Many famous, intelligent and creative personalities are known for staying up late: Charles Darwin, Winston Churchill, Keith Richards and President Obama can be cited as examples. So if you tend to stay up late, you’re in good company.

A British long-term study wanted to answer the question of how IQ and social contacts relate to each other. The results of the study showed that most people become happier the more time they spend with others. This does not apply to people with a high IQ: the research shows that extra social time often makes them more dissatisfied.
