Wacken: Tickets for 2024 are already sold out – fans continue to rant

The Wacken Festival has probably had the most turbulent edition in its history: after an early entry stop was imposed due to persistent rainy weather, those responsible did everything they could to bring the program to the stage as planned. Still, there was another disruption on Saturday night when the Iron Maiden headliners weren’t featured on the Magenta stream.

With the organizers looking ahead, the line-up for Wacken 2024 is set – after a short time all tickets were sold on Sunday evening. However, fan frustration continues as the 2024 band schedule is not well received by many.

Wacken: Presale right for rejected fans

Anyone who was no longer allowed to enter the site this year despite a ticket, now received a pre-sale right for Wacken 2024. This applies in addition to the refund of the ticket price of 299 euros per person, the organizers announced on Sunday. This should appease those who were rejected.

After just a few hours, the following was announced late Sunday evening via the festival’s social media channels: All tickets for 2024 are already sold out. So this year’s chaos doesn’t really seem to slow down the general Wacken euphoria.

Criticism continues. Now the focus is on the line-up, which apparently cannot satisfy many. The Scorpions, Amon Amarth, In Extremo and Blind Guardian, among others, have been announced for next year.

Fans criticize Wacken’s lineup

“Possibly the worst lineup Wacken has ever had,” says one person mercilessly on Instagram looking at 2024. Another user writes in disbelief: “You sold out a year in advance with this terrible lineup? Seriously ?”. Wacken is turning more and more into a “Punch and Punch show”.

A user describes the problem very concretely from her perspective: Many of the bands announced now will go on tour in 2024 anyway. So her question is “Why should I pay so much money for a ticket when I can see Watain and Primordial somewhere else?”. For them it seems more and more that the fans don’t (anymore) go to Wacken because of the music.

Others, on the other hand, can only smile at the current outrage. One follower points out: “Everyone is immediately screaming about how bad the lineup is. Do you think Wacken consists of 33 bands or something? It’s always funny.”

Wacken: Heavy losses for organizers

Although the festival did not have to be canceled this year, the organizers do not necessarily have reason to celebrate from a financial perspective. Because those who were not allowed to enter the site get their money back, those responsible are missing out on huge revenues. “It’s a third of our income,” says festival co-founder Thomas Jensen. This is mathematically not that difficult to calculate. “23,500 times 299, and you’re getting pretty close.”
