I ordered a cat tree and received a TV unit that I can’t get rid of

I like numbers.

Two weeks ago I moved and with me two young and very playful cats. Maybe even Unpleasant playful.

They think it’s funniest when one of them sits on the new, expensive couch and gives the roof to the one who jumps up from below. The game is reminiscent of Mani Matter’s song: “Dr Hansjakobli u ds Babettli”.

They play it over and over – with their claws deep in the cord fabric.

My heart and wallet aches to see it. That’s why I decided to order a scratching post about a week ago. And a new litter box. Let’s put it this way: with regard to the latter, there were also certain problems with the cats… But let’s not go into details.

I placed the order with my favorite (until that day) online wholesaler. For the litter box there was even delivery on the same day – Awesome!

That did not work delivery on the same day, but at the time I didn’t care. The next day both products arrived in separate boxes.

I first opened the litter box and discovered it was damaged. Not bad, only the door cannot be properly attached. It’s annoying, but easy, it can happen.

On to the next! I opened the second package, which seemed very difficult to me. The first thing that came out of the box was a grid. I thought: funny, I didn’t see that in the picture at all.

Anyway, I kept unpacking the thing, my friend came to my rescue. Finally he said, “Hey, that’s not a cat tree. It’s all just wood and metal and there are no fluffy covers for it.”

I took the last board out of the box, looked desperately in every corner and thought, “Where are all the missing pieces?”

I felt bad. I read what’s on the box. Nice and big: TV cabinet.

At that moment I knew: this is going to take me a lot of time and effort.

I called the helpline. A man answered, helped me immediately and was very friendly, so did I, of course, because it was not his fault that everything went wrong from A to Z with this order.

After the phone call I was in a good mood. The employee told me that I could register the return. I did the same right after he entered my return online.

Because the TV cabinet is very heavy and I only use public transport, I chose it picking at home-Variant.

I already had a bad feeling.

On the weekend I snuck into Watson’s office to print out the return label. Another unnecessary effort, as it turned out later.

Everything ready for the postman. My friend stayed home so he would be there when the postman called. I had chosen the option where you meet the postman at the front door. Because 1. I didn’t know when the postman would come, and 2. I didn’t want the TV cabinet, which I never wanted, to be stolen from the front door and I had to pay for it.

As the devil would have it, the postman did not call.

First I wrote a complaint email. Then I thought this probably won’t be processed any time soon.

I called my now former favorite online wholesaler again. A great employee picked up the phone and I started with, “Grüezi, I know it’s not your fault, but I’m slowly losing my temper.”

The woman apologized for the inconvenience and gave me 38 francs off another order. Plot twist: The discount applies to a TV cabinet that I actually ordered and – hopefully – will receive one day.

We politely said goodbye and she said that I would receive an email from the post office so that I could register the return again. So far I have not received the email. It is always nice to have friendly people on the phone, but unfortunately that is of no use to me if the transaction still fails.

I’m stuck with the TV standard, which I never wanted. I suspect that the online seller will not send me the scratching post until they have the TV furniture back. To some extent I find myself being held hostage by this stupid TV stand. Anyway, the new litter box has arrived.

But not: the cat tree. The cats continue to play passionately on the new couch. I covered it with plastic wrap, it looks crappy but who cares. I’ll say it again and again: online shopping is great. Uncomplicated and fast.
