Photoshop with AI puts everything to shame – here are 9 cool sample images

Edit images like Photoshop professionals: With the new version of the well-known Adobe software, this should be child’s play. And it gets even better.

Honestly, I’m not a fan of Photoshop.

For the last big birthday of the world famous software (in 2020) I didn’t do a serenade, but a “diatribe”. Summary: Photoshop is like WhatsApp.

The possibilities of digital image processing have always fascinated us. And then there are the Photoshop failures, which elicit plenty of hearty laughter.

However, the time of failed image manipulations will soon be over forever. This has with the latest Photoshop version or the integrated AI function « Generative filling » (generative fill) to do.

Photoshop’s new AI feature has what it takes to revolutionize digital imaging.

What the heck is “Generative Filling”?

The generative Photoshop AI dubbed “Adobe Firefly” can add, expand, or remove content from an existing photo at the touch of a button — and it doesn’t require any image-editing knowledge. The desired image manipulations can be performed with simple instructions via voice input (text). The Photoshop AI also automatically adjusts the perspective, exposure, and style of the manipulated image within seconds.

A beta version of the Adobe Firefly text-to-image generator has been available as a web version since March.

The AI has been available in Photoshop (desktop) beta since late May and is slated for a general launch in the second half of 2023, Adobe has announced.

Why is the hype around AI Photoshop so big?

This has to do with the impressive creations that have been circulating on social media platforms for several days. Resourceful minds came up with the idea of expanding famous album covers using the Photoshop AI «Firefly».

Is the generation of such images allowed by law?

AI image generators such as Midjourney and DALL-E are causing serious legal problems: companies that make their money by licensing “stock photos” are taking the AI providers to court and demanding damages. An accusation against them is that they used copyrighted material to train the AIs.

The Photoshop provider would have tactically circumvented this problem: the “Adobe Firefly” image AI would only have been trained with its own images that come from its own stock photo platform and with images whose copyright has already expired.

At the official launch of Firefly, Adobe will also present a licensing model for how the photographers represented on Adobe Stock will be compensated.

PS: Will James Fridman lose his job? 😳
