Can I flash on the e-bike?

I have an e-bike that goes at 45 km/h. Theoretically, can I flash and be fined for speeding, for example, in a 30 km/h zone?

For more than a year, the general and displayed maximum speeds apply to mopeds – all electric bikes also fall into this category. If you drive faster, you risk getting a fine. This is fixed at 30 francs, so unlike cars, it does not depend on the size of the breach. Even if electric bikes are not yet required to have a speedometer, the fine can be pronounced. The speedometer requirement for new, fast electric bikes only applies from April 1, 2024. Older, faster e-bikes must be refurbished by April 1, 2027 (also interesting: no more full authorization for bike racers).

Since fast e-bikes are limited to 45 km/h, drivers run the risk of riding too fast, especially in the 20 and 30 km/h zones. This is even more so, as many high-speed bike links from outside the cities lead to preferred bike paths known as bike lanes or – as it was called in Zurich. Despite the cancellation of the right of way and the removal of parking spaces, a speed limit of 30 is usually applied on these roads.
