Anyone living abroad and registered there must register with the local authorities. That’s why you need to change your ID to an Italian driver’s license. Regardless of whether they still have the old or new ID card. Depending on the country, different times are given for the exchange.
Valid until 31 January 2024
For example, a foreigner registered in Switzerland must exchange his driver’s license for a Swiss identity card within one year. Regarding the driver’s license in Switzerland: The blue driver’s license is valid until 31 January 2024. By then it should be replaced with one in credit card format at the latest. For the exchange, the road traffic office requests a current color passport photo, original driver’s license, photocopy of ID or passport.
