Frank, what was the reason you decided to buy a car subscription four years ago?
From the very beginning I was very interested in electromobility. Then in 2018 I thought I wanted to drive an electric car myself. Then I came across Renault Zoe through an internet platform and I really liked this car. I stumbled upon Carvolution by accident. I had heard of a car subscription back then but didn’t really know what it was and how it worked.
How did you learn about car subscription?
Then I worked hard on it, googled it, read everything about it on the Carvolution website. I found the offer very interesting and wrote an email stating that I am interested in the car. After that, everything went quickly, easily and quickly.
Have you bought or rented a vehicle before?
It is always bought with one exception. I once had a leash, but quickly landed on earth. I think I had a Monday model and always had to go to the garage, I had to pay for the repairs myself. I also had to pay for a return which I did not expect.
Where do you see the financial advantage of the subscription?
When you buy a car, you either have to invest a lot at once or pay off a loan. If I drive a car with a subscription, it stays in my savings account and I’m still on the go. My Audi E-tron will cost around 120,000 francs, so it’s just the car. I pay about 27,000 francs for a 24-month subscription and I’m on the road with a new car. Everything is included except charging current: taxes, insurance, service, even tire change and storage. In addition, I do not bear any risk of loss of value or resale.
At first glance, the monthly fixed price may seem high. Can you understand the subscription price?
Yes, I can totally understand the subscription price. Many underestimate car costs because they are spread over the year, but the subscription price really includes everything car related and you pay monthly for it. Then you immediately know how much you spent on your car. As I said, many forget to take into account the depreciation of the car they bought. Also, I think it’s great that with a car subscription you can flexibly set your mileage package yourself via the app. In the winter I’m away for a few months, then I set it to 850 kilometers a month. Thanks to the application, I can always see the kilometers I have covered.
Membership term, miles package etc. How would you describe it to your friends?
I explain to them that I always pay a fixed monthly price that includes everything from insurance and taxes to maintenance and tires, so I always keep an eye on costs and never have to worry about anything. I also make it clear that if they buy or rent a car, they will pay the total cost for the entire year. Costs, especially depreciation, are quickly forgotten. My colleagues are now very interested in subscription.
What was the criticism of the subscription?
They found the monthly fixed price too high. At first they laughed at me. The first is because I drive an electric car, and the second is because I am a subscriber. The Swiss mentality that you have to call something your own has emerged strongly. When I arrived with my Tesla, everyone turned and asked, “What does Tesla earn to buy it?” Again, I had to explain to people how car subscription works and Carvolution has many cars for every budget, from small cars to SUVs, and you can choose your perfect car.
You have been a long time Carvolution customer, what has changed during this time?

What do you use your car for most?
For my commute to work. I am not a train driver. For shopping and of course for trips or vacations. During the epidemic two years ago, we didn’t want to fly, so we went to the south of France. Traveling abroad is no problem with Carvolution.

How about a subscription car?I think it’s nice when you name a car, it’s just a car, but you already have a relationship with the car, you spend a lot of time in it. For example, Renault Zoe was simply called “Zoe” and Tesla “Benjamin Grey”. On the one hand, because it is gray, on the other hand, because Benjamin is a beautiful name. The Audi e-tron is now called “Zeus”. It’s just a big car and it fits very well.
Were there any positive or negative surprises about the subscription?
I haven’t had any negative surprises so far. By car yes, but not by Carvolution. But if the car goes crazy, it’s out of Carvolution’s hands. If something went wrong, I always got help right away.
How do you experience the Carvolution team?
Very professional, young and dynamic. I never feel like a customer, I feel more like a family member. I also love the “first name culture” so you get the feeling you’re talking to a friend and not just a customer.
What other service would you like from Carvolution?
I have no wish for the service itself, but I wish Carvolution continues to be this successful and remain as young and dynamic. The startup continues to spread its desire to change the world.
Who can you recommend a car subscription to?
Actually everyone. Especially those who want to use rather than own. This makes sense, especially for cars. It is easy and cheap. Plus, Carvolution has the right car for every budget and need.
