Gucci employee shows free gifts on TikTok – and gets fired

A video of the user “Moradi.Mp4” on TikTok has been viewed almost 10 million times. In it, Summer – as the American is really called – shows the presents she received from the luxury brand Gucci when she started working there a week earlier. Shortly afterwards it became known that Summer – precisely because of this TikTok – was fired from Gucci. But what was wrong with the clip?

In the video, Summer shows off the Gucci dresses she was given as “uniform”. Something many TikTokers do these days. The gifts include three blouses, two trousers, two blazers, a bag, a belt, four pairs of socks, sneakers and a pair of loafers. Even though the TikToker has not written down the exact prices of the designer clothes, after a quick search, you can discover that the items are worth several thousand dollars.

“Should I keep the stuff and just ghost Gucci?”

What Gucci didn’t seem to like about the video is the reviews Summer wrote about each part. While she loved most of the pieces, the sneakers didn’t fare well. Simply comment this out with the words, “Ehhh, basic!”

But the main reason for her dismissal was not her ratings, but the caption she wrote for the video. So she said, “Should I keep things and just ghost Gucci?” In a separate TikTok, Summer explained that Gucci fired her because “HR felt it didn’t reflect well on Gucci.” In addition, the Lil Pump song “Gucci Gang” playing in the background was not a suitable choice.

“I asked the universe for more money”

Summer reacted to her sudden release in several TikToks. But she doesn’t seem to be really affected by it – on the contrary. She said Gucci approached her for the position after she “begged the universe for more money.” But she was not dependent on it. This is because she is “a yoga teacher’s personal assistant” and earns money from “personalized gift wrapping and as an actress”. She also said she “hated the job anyway”.

Reactions to the videos were mixed. While some criticized Summer for her statements, others celebrated her straightforward nature. For example, one user said, “Finally someone who isn’t done with a job,” while another wrote, “How can you be so stupid and mess up a Gucci job?” Summer also commented on the latter in separate videos, saying only, “Don’t take everything so seriously, even if it’s Gucci, it’s just a sales job.”

Although Summer had to return her Gucci dresses after she was fired, the whole scandal seems to have been worth it. The American’s statement videos all have several million views and Summer now has more than ten thousand followers on TikTok.
