The demand for devices with a price of more than 600 francs has increased. Those looking for cheaper smartphones declined, as Samsung Switzerland boss Dario Casari said. The electronics group sold fewer smartphones in Switzerland.
The growth in the premium segment affects the entire market. “Although you have to say that the Swiss market is de facto divided between two providers,” Casari continued in an interview with “NZZ am Sonntag”, without mentioning the competitor Apple. In particular, there is a demand for stronger cameras and better battery performance.
On the other hand, the Swiss keep their smartphones for an average of 27 months – more than three months longer than two years ago.
Local customers are among the early adopters: they want new developments immediately and are prepared to pay for them. When it comes to foldable smartphones, which cost around 1,900 francs, Switzerland is one of the leaders in an international comparison when measured by total smartphone sales. (sda)
