Job offer ‘online’: How to recognize that it is fake?

There are a lot of online job offers, but dozens of them can be fake, they just want to take advantage of the need and desperation of many people.

Are they fake offers can reach across e-mail, on LinkedIn or WhatsApp. For this reason, they must be vigilant.

How do you know if a fake job offer? There are some there signs which usually indicate that it is before a fraud attempt.

“Criminals who contact different users get information from employment portals, profiles from LinkedIn or from a database stolen or bought on some secret forum,” says Camilo Gutiérrez Amaya, head of the ESET Latin America Research Laboratory.

Gutiérrez Amaya adds: “Much of our information is public“.

In this way, the expert points out some of those signs that will make him recognize when the offer is a lie.

– Surplus benefits: Ace airline ticketsscholarships for every child from associates or regular promotions.

They will try to create a connection: For the purpose of looking reliable and exciting confidence of their victims, messages tend to please the recipient.

They will offer to take care of formalities: If they are job offers abroad, these scams almost always offer help with visa processing.

Not to check if it’s legal, but because it’s a scam to charge the fee in advance, and they want to include the visa fee in the payment.

– Request for excess data data: When filling out any form, it is crucial to be careful not to provide any information that could be useful in identity theft.

– Pay attention to the originating address: Pay attention to domain names in emails that seem appropriate in a context such as a job offer, such as “consultant.com”, “contractor.com” or “accountant.com”.

These examples are some of the possible domains that offer services like mail.com, a provider of free email accounts linked to a popular website provider.

Although this service is completely legitimate, the ability to create email addresses with these domains clearly attracts scammers looking for legitimate email addresses.

– Lack of information about employment and without conditions: There are jobs that do not require special experience or qualifications, but there are cases where, if they do not even contain a job title, it suggests that the main interest is to get money from applications for non-existent jobs.
