With such a sharp design, Peugeot is moving towards the future

Departure to new shores. The French brand underlines its passion for electromobility with its Peugeot study Inception Concept, which was unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show CES in Las Vegas (USA) last week. Peugeot CEO Linda Jackson (64): “We will launch five new electric models in the next two years. With Peugeot’s goal of becoming Europe’s leading electric brand by 2030.»

This ambitious vision paves the way for a radical transformation of the brand. And the Peugeot Inception Concept marks the beginning of this new era. On the one hand, the electric drive concept, on the other, the new design language that will apply to all Peugeot models from 2025.

800 km range

Technically, the five-metre-long and only 1.34-metre-high concept work from France is based on the tall STLA platform. The coupé limousine with four doors and over seven square meters of glass is equipped with modern 800-volt battery technology (recharges a range of 150 kilometers in just five minutes). The 100 kilowatt battery pack in the underbody of the vehicle and the good aerodynamics of the flat body provide a range of up to 800 kilometers without stopping charging.

Hundreds in three seconds

The Peugeot Inception Concept not only looks sporty, but also promises such performance. An electric motor with a total power of 680 hp (500 kW) on the front and rear axles enables the work to accelerate to 100 km/h in three seconds. There’s also a revolutionary wired steering system – i.e. fully electronic steering without a mechanical link.

futuristic interior

Alongside its modern technology, the concept also wants to give a glimpse of the new Peugeot design language that will be introduced by the French from 2025. Massive glass surfaces are unlikely to be used in mass production, because the potential to heat the interior in summer is very high. Futurist designed seats and panels made from recycled materials and 3D printing do just that. The driver looks at a new generation i-Cockpit and gives his steering commands via an unusually rectangular steering wheel with integrated digital displays called Hypersquare.

“The Peugeot brand is changing, but the Inception Concept remains unequivocally a Peugeot. Design director Matthias Hossann expresses the timeless appeal of the brand and shows how optimistic we are about the future of the car and its emotions.” “The bright and light-filled concept reinvents the spatial experience of driving while also demonstrating our commitment to reducing our brand’s carbon footprint by more than 50 percent by 2030.”

But what those in charge of Peugeot don’t say: The Inception Concept will probably never hit our streets and will remain a technology carrier. But: She always looks breathtaking.
