Founder and boss Joop Donkervoort now handed it over to his son Denis, who wanted to show he also knew what regular customers wanted with the new F22.
Compared to its insane predecessor, the D8, the F22 is 4.04 meters longer, wider and even slightly more comfortable. The Carbon Targa roof is removable and transforms the two-seater into a roadster in just a few simple steps. As soon as Donkervoort showed Jordi Wiersma’s design to several customers, the planned 50-piece series was already sold out. That’s why 75 copies are currently being produced in Lelystad, the Netherlands.
Audi engine, carbon body
The F22 consists of a mesh frame with carbon elements for strength and low weight. The racer weighs just 750 kilograms unladen. When it comes to driving, Donkervoort continues to collaborate with Audi and is currently installing the 500 hp (368 kW) 2.5-liter five-cylinder turbo that powered the Audi TT RS Iconic Edition on the last drive before it was discontinued. It makes a power-to-weight ratio of 666 hp per 1000 kilograms – Lamborghini’s Aventador made just 505 hp per ton. That’s why the F22 takes just 2.5 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h; It ends at a top speed of only 290 km/h.

Because instead of the all-wheel drive and dual-clutch transmission that has long been common on many super sports cars, the F22 stays with a manual five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential on the rear axle to bring the power to the car. path. “Weight is the key to everything we do,” explains Denis Donkervoort. The less weight a car carries, the less power it needs to stop, turn and accelerate, and the less fuel you use. If you want to further slim down your F22 racer, you can replace the standard aluminum wheels with carbon wheels that weigh just 5.4 kilograms instead of 12 per wheel.
In addition, power steering, ABS or air conditioning can be ordered. It’s available in every small car these days, but not in this super sports car that costs at least 291,000 euros.
