As a matter of fact, according to the Traffic Regulation Regulation (Article 57, Paragraph 2), lights, reflectors, windows and rear view mirrors must be kept clean. If you’re driving with only one “peephole” (which also applies to fogged windows), you’re putting yourself and other road users in danger. Therefore, this can be punishable by a fine or even reinstatement. In addition, according to the Traffic Regulations Regulation (Article 33, Letter a), preheating the engine while the vehicle is stationary is prohibited. Anyone who does not comply risks being fined 60 francs.

In addition to a garage space, the most efficient and also the most expensive way to get into a car with fog-free windows is to install an aftermarket backup heater. Significantly cheaper: just cover the windshield with a tarpaulin.

And you should always have a good glass scraper on hand, gloves and an adequate amount of de-icing spray. By the way, a good ice scraper has not only a scraping edge, but also a serrated edge (for pre-cleaning on heavy snow/ice layers) and possibly an integrated whisk.
