Information from the cell phone can be heard, even if it is switched off

The cell phone battery allows all the information it contains to be heard or displayed, even if they are excluded, warned this Wednesday the Doctor of Economics and Business from the Autonomous University of San Luis de Potosí (Mexico), Juan Carlos Yáñez-Luna.

Yáñez-Luna said this at the ETHICOMP international meeting, which brings together 68 experts from 15 countries at Spain’s University of La Rioja, to address the ethical and social impact of information and communication technologies (ICT).

“It may be difficult to know who can see or listen to” the content of all the information contained in the mobile phone when it is switched off, but it is possible because “everything is stored in one place”, he added in statements to reporters.

For example, the servers where the information is stored, he specified, could have access to it, as can be the case with platforms like Facebook or Google Maps, which in the latter case can know the location of the information. the person who owns the device or the route it took at a certain time.

For this reason, he pointed out that it is important to “be careful and know exactly what can be offered and what can be kept silent” when uploading information to a device or computer behind contracted servers, platforms or social networks.

He explained that technology and artificial intelligence (AI) have affected society in such a way that citizens cannot disappear from the world, but they can “be prudent” when loading and holding that technology.

Yáñez-Luna advises not to post information on these platforms that you don’t want to be used and only post what you want.

He also said that AI is not a new topic and has been worked on for many years, but now it has gained momentum due to the advancement of processors that are more powerful and can work on algorithms very quickly.

This allows “all the information to be processed very quickly, in a few seconds”, emphasized Yáñez-Luna.

At this gathering, congressmen discuss, among other things, ethics and technology in areas such as retail, tourism, education, security, technological change, artificial intelligence and gender differences.

They also talk about the evolution of artificial intelligence and the fact that human beings develop to the extent that technology allows, for example with implants in the body.
