Help Latin America achieve digital development

During the 18th edition of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, ​​​​Huawei reaffirmed its commitment to continue working on building digital infrastructure in Latin America and the Caribbean, further promoting digital transformation and sustainable development in the region, in order to achieve greater connectivity. At the same time, he reiterated his goal to protect the natural environment and enable more people to enjoy the benefits of digital technology.

Daniel Zhou, president of Huawei for Latin America and the Caribbean, pointed out that the new generation of information and communication technologies, such as 5G and 5.5G, is the first step in achieving transformation digital and updating the industry. Digitization is accelerating in Latin America and is in a critical period of deployment of fifth generation networks.

In that sense, Huawei priorities in Latin America are providing technologically leading, secure and reliable ICT infrastructure products and solutions, promoting inclusive connectivity and enabling people to enjoy high-quality and convenient online services.

“We look forward to working with local partners to further improve the process digital transformation in Latin America continuous technological innovation and make a greater contribution to the development of the local digital economy,” said Zhou.

During the meeting with regional journalists who attending MWC, the senior executive stressed that in the era of the digital economy, Cultivating and developing digital talent is especially critical. For this reason, Daniel Zhou Huawei pointed out Huawei’s commitment to continue to strongly promote programs of digital talent in Latin America and the Caribbean. To date, the company has collaborated with more than 20 ministries and 400 universities to provide ICT skills training to more than 2,400 people.​​

In the last year, Huawei has developed steadily in Latin America and continues dedicated to building ICT infrastructure and promoting wider connectivity in Latin America. For example, cooperation with local operators to set up the world’s southernmost 5G base station in Chile and connect the network to remote areas.

In the field of digital transformation, with more than 7,400 partners, the digital transformation of the industry was promoted, including smart agriculture projects in Brazil and Jamaica. In addition, Huawei has worked with governments and non-governmental organizations in Mexico, Chile, Colombia and Ecuador through the TECH4ALL project to protect the natural environment and local biological diversity by using information and communication technologies.​​
