Gran Turismo Folgore will be the first fully electric Maserati. The Italians want to offer sports-only electric vehicles in Europe from 2030.

Maserati stands for elegant design and screaming V8 engines. Loud internal combustion engines will soon be a thing of the past. Maserati wants to offer exclusively electric sports cars in Europe from 2030. Many fans are in shock; But as my trip to Rome at the beginning of the year showed, the future of electricity can literally be exciting.

For the first time at the Vallelunga racetrack I will be able to get behind the wheel of the new Gran Turismo Folgore (German: Blitz), which will go on sale in early 2024. First impression after a few quick laps in the prototype: The first pure electric vehicle with three forks definitely takes off like lightning – but without thunder! Three electric motors deliver an incredible 761 hp (560 kW) to the two drive axles; The electric Masi accelerates to 100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds and reaches a top speed of 325 km/h. After the trip at Folgore I was only positively shocked.

Electricity works everywhere

But hard work rather than fun and games is the focus of the Ford Transit. The minibus, which has been operating for almost 60 years, is now also available with electric drive; He needs to prove himself in the music room reining test in June. My colleagues are amazed not only at the silence in the cabin, but also at the unusually comfortable start-up of the commercial vehicle weighing almost 2.7 tons, thanks to 430 electric Nm. Almost more importantly: E-Transit charges almost less than its currently available diesel counterparts. Even in the 350 L2 H2 version tested, the load capacity in the cargo area with a capacity of over six cubic meters is 840 kilos. Two tests show that electricity works everywhere, whether it is a Buezer or a sports car.
