The young electric car brand Polestar wants to conquer Europe with these five electric cars

The young brand Polestar goes its own way when it comes to the number theory of its models. While for most manufacturers, such as BMW or Mercedes, the numbers indicate vehicle size, for the Swedish-Chinese company they indicate the order of appearance: at Polestar Day in Los Angeles, the well-known and now smallest Polestar 2 was presented next to the new released SUV models called Polestar 3 and 4. The “four” is smaller than the comparable “three”.

Now numbers 5 and 6 are added. In 2025 and 2026, the large luxury class sedan and the roadster with an electric roof and only two seats will come onto the market.

Polestar 5: Sedan with well-known technology

The four-door Polestar 5 is 5.08 meters long and has the typical features of the Polestar models. Striking light signature with the double hook of the daytime running lights, at the rear the rectangular red tail light over the entire width of the car with integrated brake light and indicators. Overall, it seems like a stretched continuation of the Polestar 4 SUV coupe, with which it largely shares technology. The group of companies consisting of the Chinese giant Geely and its Swedish subsidiary Volvo does not yet provide precise figures.

The battery of the largest Polestar probably also has a capacity of about 112 kWh, which means it can easily reach a range of more than 600 kilometers. The two engines, each responsible for one axle, will, as with the smaller models, be in the range of at least 500 hp or more.

As with the Polestar 4, a small camera is hidden at the top edge of the rear window, the image of which replaces the classic interior mirror. The interior of the newcomer, which should be released in 2025, is not yet finished and the seats were also missing. Therefore, the doors of the model shown remained locked. It is not difficult to guess that it will have similarities with the two SUV models, but will offer even more high-quality materials. Due to the long wheelbase, the giant promises a generous feeling of space for the rear passengers.

Polestar 6: revival of a rare genre

The second new release is also rolling out on the same basis, but is far from a completed car and is therefore shown as a kind of clay model in real dimensions. The Polestar 6 aims to revive a category that is still rare for electric cars. The ‘Six’ will be a two-seater, sporty roadster with an electrically retractable fixed roof. The inner workings, which are currently only in the minds of the designers, are only suggested in the display model and still leave a lot of room until series production begins in 2026.

What is certain, however, is that the most elegant Polestar only has two seats and therefore does not have any kind of emergency bench for short journeys. The performance data matches that of the sedan.

Polestar talks about the prices of the two top models not long before the market launch. Both will probably easily break the 100,000 franc sound barrier.

Peak values ​​for fast charging planned

German CEO Thomas Ingenlath revealed an important detail. Thanks to the collaboration with an American company, both models must guarantee top values ​​for fast charging from the DC column. We are talking about 5 minutes of charging time for an additional 160 kilometers of travel with the electric car. A 10-minute coffee break is sufficient for more than 300 kilometers. This is achieved because the inside of the anodes is made of silicone. The battery must not be subjected to excessive strain.
