In the future, seven new models of Stellantis brands will be fully electric on the same platform. Citroën started with the ë-C3, followed by the all-electric Fiat Panda in 2024.

Citroën recently announced the all-electric Citroën ë-C3. Sales will begin in spring 2024 and will be priced starting from the equivalent of approximately 22,100 francs. It is completely in line with the strategy of the parent company Stellantis.

In the future, a total of 7 new and affordable models from the group brands will be offered not only with internal combustion engines but also fully electric on the same platform. Citroën started with the electric Döschwo; The all-electric Fiat Panda is planned to follow in 2024.

Cheap thanks to shared technology

According to Fiat and Abarth CEO Olivier François, there is a great need for affordable electric cars. Thanks to low production costs and multiple use of the technology across different brands, Stellantis wants to launch an attack on Renault’s budget brand Dacia, especially its Sandero model: Cheap electric cars should be available at competitive prices between 20,000 and 25,000 euros.

Since the cheapest version of Stellantis’ pure electric platform won’t hit the market until 2026, the ë-C3 will be available from Fiat Panda and Co. by then it will be on the “Smart Car” platform; This is a weakened version of the technology. Peugeot 208, Opel Corsa or Citroën C4 and electric motors or internal combustion engines are permitted. This is because cheap electric vehicles should also be offered as cheap combustion engine models.

Electric, cheap, spacious

The third generation of the iconic little Fiat Panda has been on the market for twelve years. According to François, the fourth generation of the small car will be introduced on the brand’s 125th birthday, that is, on July 11, 2024. According to François, this will be a further visual development of the Fiat Centoventi work shown at the Geneva Motor Show in 2019.

Since the E-Panda will be on the same “smart car” platform as the E-Döschwo, important technical data for the new generation can be obtained: Accordingly, an 83 kW (113 hp) electric motor should be used as the front wheel. to spread. The 44 kWh battery is enough for a WLTP range of 320 kilometers and charges from 20 percent to 80 percent in 26 minutes at a maximum charging rate of 100 kW.

Advert

The E-Panda will certainly undercut the all-electric Fiat 500e, whose price starts at 29,490 francs, and the new 600e, whose estimated price starts at 37,000 francs. What the electric panda ultimately looks like remains a mystery. And whether this actually starts in 2024 certainly depends on the market success of its sister model, the Citroën ë-C3.
