Rumors of a comeback have been circulating in the industry ever since, and these rumors have actually been confirmed with the unveiling of the Fisker Ocean electric SUV in November 2022. A year later, Ocean is about to be introduced to the European market.

Swiss premiere in Zurich

The Ocean will be exhibited for the first time on Swiss soil at Auto Zurich next week (2-5 November at Messe Zurich). Visually, the electric SUV that we recently got to see from under the thick wheels certainly looks like something: behind the muscular front, the Ocean looks more like a large station wagon than an SUV. And despite the curb weight of over 2.4 tonnes, Fisker is committed to sustainability: at least 50 kilos of the Ocean is made from recycled materials – Fisker wants to launch a completely CO₂-neutral model by 2027. More than 70 percent of suppliers are located less than 1,000 kilometers from production at the Magna Steyr plant in Graz, Austria.

Range up to 700 km

Fisker also wants to impress the audience with clever details: The solar-powered roof already available on the Karma is expected to power more than 3,000 kilometers per year in sunny regions. Fisker tops the league of non-electric crossovers with a theoretical range of up to 707 kilometers; This is ensured by the 113 kWh battery of the top version. Thanks to its bidirectional charging function, the electric SUV can also distribute electricity to other electrical devices, from grills to cars.

If the Ocean, which has a power of up to 200 kW, is connected to a DC fast charger, the driver can fold out the so-called “Taco Tray” from the armrest for a laptop or a fast food menu, just like on an airplane. California mode gives a summery feel: The Fisker Ocean lowers all the windows except the windshield and retracts the roof using a button on the headliner.

Test drives at Auto Zurich

Three versions of the Ocean will be launched in November: The base with front-wheel drive and 275 hp (202 kW) can travel up to 440 electric kilometers. With the Ultra package, the Ocean becomes four-wheel drive, produces a maximum power of 540 hp (397 kW) and can travel up to 610 kilometers. The top two 4×4 models, One and Extreme, have a system output of 564 hp (415 kW) and the aforementioned maximum range of 707 kilometers. Based on German prices, the Ocean is expected to start around 45,000 francs, with top versions expected to cost at least 75,000 francs.
