The powerful SUV Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT is already history in most markets less than two years later. During the facelift, which is intended to keep the Cayenne fresh for the rest of its life, the top model Turbo GT with its impressive 640 horsepower falls aside; this is due to increasingly stringent exhaust gas regulations in Europe.
But without a solution, Porsche wouldn’t be a Porsche. Indeed: the rear wheel arches of the new Cayenne top model are even thicker: the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid is much more powerful than its predecessor with 739 hp and is a true competitor of BMW’s top athlete, XM Red Label.
Of course, the new BMW XM is causing trouble for Porsche. Because the Bavarian is not only available as the 653hp regular version, but also as the 748hp Red Label Edition. But Porsche is now countering this with the new Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid.
Its dual-charged four-liter V8 produces 599 hp (441 kW). It is powered by a 176 hp (130 kW) electric motor in the transmission tunnel, which increases the overall performance of the new flagship model to 739 hp (544 kW) and an impressive 950 Nm of torque. The 2.5-tonne all-wheel drive giant sprints to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds from the start, but with a top speed of 295 km/h it can’t beat the magic 300 limit.
But things look different with the optional GT package: the Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid Coupé with GT package reaches a top speed of 305 km/h; this is probably especially important for discussions at the regulars table. This is achieved through technical and aerodynamic adjustments: the standard air suspension at the rear axle can be expanded to include rear axle steering and roll stabilisation.
From the outside, the models differ with a modified front end with black accents, dark wheel arch extensions, carbon separator in the roof spoiler and centrally located tailpipes of the titanium exhaust system. Inside, there are comfortable leather seats or sports seats that can be adjusted electrically, a new digital cockpit with passenger indicators and LED matrix headlights.

However, there is not only a significant increase in power output close to 100 hp, but also a significantly larger battery in the lower body. The battery pack with an increased capacity of 25.9 kWh is sufficient for an electric driving range of over 70 kilometers; In urban use, a distance of up to 82 kilometers is possible. The new built-in charger reduces charging time in the wall box or charging station to just under 2.5 hours until the battery pack is fully charged. Standard consumption is 1.7 to 2.0 liters plus at least 29.9 kWh per 100 kilometers.
The base price of the Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid is 203,100 francs, while the coupé version is 207,300 francs. With the GT package, the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid’s price goes up to at least 240,200 francs. The new top model is only available in markets where the previous Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT is no longer available due to legal requirements. This includes most EU countries, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore.
