“Bill Clinton wants to play GTA 6” – Flitzer disrupts Gamescom Opening Night

The world’s largest computer games fair, Gamescom, opened its doors to visitors on Wednesday morning. The rush was great, trade visitors and journalists from all over the world and a few selected fans came to the Cologne exhibition halls.

After the symposium, the general public will be admitted from Thursday – then the exhibition halls should be even more crowded. Saturday is already sold out, the event ends on Sunday.

1227 exhibitors from 63 countries – more than ever before

The range is bigger than ever, 1227 exhibitors show new games, hardware and other products from the gaming world. Among the companies are Nintendo, Netease, Tencent and Ubisoft. The streaming services Netflix, Disney +, Crunchyroll and Amazon Prime are also included. In 2022, 265,000 people came to the industry meeting of the gamer scene, this year should be more. The record was set in 2019 with 373,000 viewers.

“Flitzer” disrupts opening night

The fair had already opened on Tuesday evening with a show in which film director Zack Snyder (“300”) appeared. The American presented his two-part Netflix series ‘Rebel Moon’ in front of about 2,000 viewers on site and several million people who followed the event online worldwide, which is expected to be released in late 2023 and spring 2024. There should also be a game for the movies.

«Suddenly the show was interrupted by the appearance of two young men who stormed the stage in the middle of the program. They repeated the phrase “We want to play GTA 6!” several times before being ejected from the stage by security personnel,” writes the German online portal t3n.de. According to other sources, the troublemaker would have shouted: “Bill Clinton wants to play GTA 6”.

This so-called “Opening Night Live” is a big event among games fans. According to the organizer, the live show had 13 million hits on the internet last year.

Among the games presented on stage were a new version of the first-person shooter series “Call of Duty”, the horror survival “Alan Wake 2” and the action role-playing game “Starfield”.

The sector has been growing for years. It got a strong impulse in Corona times – then people spent a lot of time at home and therefore also had time for the game world. Demand is also expected to grow in the coming years.
