Children up to the age of twelve can cycle on the pavement if there are no bike lanes or bike paths. This gives them greater safety and the opportunity to travel by bike even if there is no bike infrastructure in some parts. Cycling on pavement still requires a lot of attention.
On the one hand, pedestrians should not be unduly hindered or even endangered. On the other hand, as with all intersections, caution should be exercised when entering buildings and properties. Because cyclists are often faster than pedestrians, drivers may not see them until late. Children on bicycles have no priority at intersections or even at pedestrian crossings. It is recommended to get off here and cross the street on foot.
