Musk scare Jack Sweeney is now following Elon’s private jet on wires

Elon Musk blocked the teenager’s Twitter account, which published the flights of his private jet. Ironically, the position can be tracked again on Meta’s Twitter rival Threads.

The Elonjet tracker is back: 20-year-old Jack Sweeney is now posting the current position of Elon Musk’s private jet on Meta’s Twitter Alternative Threads. The “Elon Musk’s Jet” profile has nearly 80,000 followers there as of Monday.

Sweeney uses publicly available flight data to automatically post takeoffs and landings of Musk’s jet to threads – just as he did on Twitter for a long time. Elon Musk had permanently blocked Sweeney’s Twitter account “Elon Musk’s Jet” in December 2022 after buying Twitter.

The 20-year-old Sweeney also publishes the position data on little-used social networks such as Mastodon or Bluesky. The comeback of the Elonjet tracker at Threads is likely to irk Musk, as the service will get a lot more attention there.

There was repeated uproar over the Elonjet tracker as Musk initially offered the youngster $5,000 and later a free Tesla to close the Twitter profile. It was later revealed that Musk also blocked Sweeney’s private profile. Even the profiles of some journalists critical of the case were temporarily blocked. That drew even more criticism against Musk, as he has presented himself as the savior of free speech since taking over Twitter.

On Threads, Sweeney also commented on Twitter’s announcement of legal action against Meta. Musk also threatened him with a lawsuit, but never carried out this threat.

Last year, Musk’s plane took off 171 times

Bloomberg news agency reported in March that Musk reportedly used his private jet for a 13-minute flight and that the plane made 171 flights in the past year alone, covering 307,568 miles (495,000 kilometers). According to Bloomberg, the Tesla CEO and Twitter owner is the best when it comes to flying in his own jet. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg was in second place with 115 flights at a relatively large distance.

The Washington Post reported in early 2019 that Musk’s plane was over 150,000 miles in the air in 2018. The annual flight distance has doubled in recent years. It must be said that the multi-billionaire does not necessarily have to be on board every flight.

Threads, Mark Zuckerberg’s Twitter rival, has only been available since last Wednesday and has more than 100 million profiles within days, although the app is not yet officially available in the EU or Switzerland.

Whether Sweeney will also mess with the owner of Threads: “In addition to Elonmuskjet, there is already the Zuckerbergjet account, which could follow the position of Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s private jet in the future,” the German techie reports. portal golem.de.
