With more than 206,000 units, the Peugeot 208 was Europe’s best-selling car last year. All versions now have a design refresh for the front and rear – and the Stromer e-208 version has even more power. The technology for this is provided by Stellantis Group’s sister models such as the electrified Opel models Astra Electric and Corsa-e or the future and newly introduced Fiat 600e.

In the future, the electric motor on the front axle of the Peugeot e-208 will have an optional output of 156 hp (115 kW). This is combined with a larger 54 kWh battery that extends the range to 400 kilometers. On the other hand, nothing has changed in terms of charging capacity, which is only 100 kilowatts yet.

Less fuel consumption

The internal combustion engine versions are also now powered. If you’re not warming to the electric version, you can optionally opt for a hybrid version with 100 hp (74 kW) or 136 hp (100 kW). However, these are not true full hybrids, but petrol engines that are mildly hybridized via the 48-volt in-car network and are necessarily supplied with a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission.

This is how Peugeot moves into the future

The small battery primarily supports the internal combustion engine at low speeds, thus reducing fuel consumption by up to 15 percent. In city traffic, the Peugeot 208 can turn halfway without a combustion engine. The range of two petrol engines without electrification remained unchanged, with 1.2-litre three-cylinder engines producing 75 hp (55 kW) or 100 hp (74 kW).

Larger touchscreen

The low-cost base versions of the Frenchman used to have a central touchscreen with a manageable screen diagonal of 7 inches (about 18 centimeters), now all models have 10 inches (about 25 centimeters). Depending on the model variant (Active, Allure, GT), up to four USB ports and a more powerful smartphone charger are new on the 4.06 meter long Peugeot 208. Driver assistance systems and cameras have also undergone a technical review.

Peugeot has not announced prices yet. The current 208 is available starting at CHF 22,190, but the E version is of course more expensive. With a facelift, there is definitely an additional fee to be paid. The revised Peugeot 208 should launch towards the end of the year.
