Ticket purchases at SBB were massively slowed down on Thursday. A spokesperson for the Federal Railways confirmed this to Watson. The purchase via the app was not possible.
The purchase of the vending machines was also partly affected, but “the majority” of the tickets can still be requested there. The train crew has been notified.
The technical malfunction affects all channels, reports the Keystone-SDA news agency: online apps, vending machines and even the counters with staff at train stations.
An SBB spokesperson said in the afternoon that the responsible experts were working to solve the problem. The reason is not yet known. It is also not yet possible to estimate how long the outage will last.
Travel is not affected, the spokesperson said in a statement on the website. There, SBB gave travelers tips on how to deal with the nuisance.
