Federal Council website attacked by hacktivists

The website of the Federal Parliament has been paralyzed by Russian hacktivists with a so-called DDoS attack. On Wednesday, the site was temporarily unavailable due to the server overload attack. This was announced by the chairman of the Council on Thursday morning.

The website had fallen victim to a malicious attack, said Council of States President Brigitte Häberli-Koller (Centre/TG) and National Council President Martin Candinas (Centre/GR). For this reason, access to the website was sometimes difficult or did not work at all.

Specialists are working hard to fend off the attack, both councils said. “We ask for your patience,” Candinas added. The parliamentary services announced the attack on Twitter on Wednesday afternoon. Internal systems and data will not be compromised, the tweet said.
