Legal proceedings between Twitter and American billionaire Musk continue

Despite the recently announced intention by Elon Musik to buy Twitter, the legal proceedings between the online service and the American billionaire are continuing for the time being.

Neither Twitter nor Musk had officially asked the court to suspend the proceedings. The responsible judge Kathaleen McCormick announced this on Wednesday (local time). “I will therefore continue with the preparations for our trial.” The trial begins on October 17.

how it started

Musk announced a $44 billion acquisition of Twitter in April. However, in early July, Musk dropped the deal over alleged “false and misleading” information from the social media service.

The background is the number of spam or fake accounts on Twitter. Musk accuses the platform of overestimating the actual number of users.

Twitter has denied the allegations and has gone to court to force the multi-billionaire to complete the takeover. On Tuesday, however, Musk announced that he wanted to buy Twitter as originally planned. However, the condition is that the company withdraws its lawsuit.
