The “Horizon Worlds” application is Mark Zuckerberg’s flagship project when it comes to the Metaverse – a digital 3D world that aims to change the way we communicate with each other. At the moment, however, the program suffers from such quality problems that even the developers do not want to spend their time in the virtual world, as “The Verge” reports. The tech magazine refers to an internal document of the metagroup.
The letter was sent to the employees of Meta in mid-September. In it, Meta’s vice president, Vishal Shah, imposed a so-called “quality lock” on his team until the rest of the year. Until then, they want to make sure that “quality gaps and performance issues” are addressed before the “Horizon Worlds” program is made available to other users.
“Feedback from our developers, users, playtesters, and others on our team shows that our community is experiencing issues due to […] Stability issues and bugs make it difficult to experience the magic of Horizon,” The Verge quoted Shah’s letter as saying.
Shah complained that the Metaverse developers didn’t use the program as often as they wanted. “Why don’t we like the product we’ve developed so much that we always want to use it?” If it’s not used by the team itself, no one can expect users to like it, Shah said.
In another letter at the end of September, the meta manager returned to the subject. Because employees are not yet making sufficient use of Horizon Worlds, a management plan is being drawn up. The aim is for the respective teams to use the program at least once a week.
“Everyone in this organization should make it their mission to fall in love with Horizon Worlds,” Shah said. And you can’t do that without using it. “Go further. Organize times to do it with your colleagues or friends.”
The Metaverse of the Facebook group Meta is increasingly becoming a laughing matter. At the start of the 3D world “Horizon Worlds” in France and Spain, in mid-August, Zuckerberg published an image section that caused ridicule on the Internet.
The photo showed his avatar in a barren landscape in front of a virtual version of the Eiffel Tower and Sagrat Cor Church. Zuckerberg writes, “I’m excited to see people discovering and building immersive worlds for themselves.” The image from the Metaverse, in which the group has invested about $10 billion, resembled a graphic from a 1998 computer game.
