Zoé Claessens starts this year’s BMX World Cup with a podium finish. The Vaud native finishes second in the first of two races in Turkey’s Sakarya this weekend.
Claessens, runner-up at the World Cup in Nantes last July, was only defeated by Bethany Shriever in the final of the top eight. The Briton became Olympic champion in Tokyo and also world champion in the same year.
In the men’s world champion Simon Marquart missed out on a place in the top three. The Zurich man finished 5th as Frenchman Romain Mahieu won. (SDA)
