Obradoiro rose in Burgos 12 years ago

Author: AREA 11

On June 3, 2011, Moncho Fernández promoted him to ACB

It was Friday. It was the fourth game of the last playoff series. On June 3, 2011, twelve years ago, Obradoiro re-entered the ACB train, which he never left. The team from the capital of Galicia won a place in the Endesa League in court after almost two decades of fighting for their rights and turning the bad decision of the federation into justice. But his time in the elite was very short. The people of Compostela went directly to LEB Oro. Then Moncho Fernández appeared, the great architect of obradoirist miracles. He was promoted in the first attempt and since then Obra has been living in the stars.

On June 1, 1994, Compos was promoted to the First Division, and on June 1, 2011, Obra came very close to making history, but lost the third game against Burgos. I had to delay success for forty-eight hoursuntil June 3rd, the day the Obradoiristas returned the Galician flag to ACB after a 64-72 victory in Game 4 of the third series.

That June 3, 2011. Obradoiro confirmed his promotion to ACB with the victory in Burgos (3-1) after winning the first two duels in Sar and falling in the third in Burgos. On the fourth date, in an unforgettable match from start to finish, the best version of Albert Corbach emerged from the trio.

After Saro’s 2-0 equaliser, Obradoiro failed to capitalize on his first chance for promotion. He took too many rebounds under the rim and was forced to play Burgos in the fourth round. That fourth clash was always dominated by Compostelawho accompanied Murcia on its return to the highest category of Spanish basketball.

Alberto Corbacho was a hero. After advancing with two other teams a few inches ago, he led the men from Compostela into the attack. With 21 points (five three-pointers), the Mallorca forward broke the defense of Burgos. Three other players topped double-digit points on promotion day: Hopkins (14 points, 5 of 6 points and 6 rebounds), Oriol Junyent (13, with 6 of 10 points and 7 rebounds) i andres rodriguez (12 points and 5 assists).

Obra could be climbed directly that spring of 2011, but she preferred the most difficult so far. He chose the most difficult and complex path. Therefore, to touch the sky again, he had to knock out Cáceres, Breogán and Burgos. Burgosan again failed in the finals for the second year in a row, and Downs’ contribution (22 baskets) fell on deaf ears.

It was Obradoiro’s second major promotion to the first division. The first was in the 1981-1982 season. That work by Pepe Casalo, Julio Bernárdez and Antonio Castro, with Gil, Mario Iglesias, Alberto Abalde, Modrego, Lomas, Balagué, Corts, Vallejo, Manolo Vidal and Montero. A team from Compostela has never achieved such a feat. Then, many years later, Obradoiro reached the league of stars in the offices, in 2009-2010.
