Ambri is looking for a striker for the upcoming season to replace André Heim (to the St. Louis Blues), who has migrated to the NHL. Since this profile is hard to find on the Swiss market, the Leventine decided to cast their line on a foreigner.

According to information from Blick, the Ticino are in advanced talks with Canadian center Laurent Dauphin. The 28-year-old played six seasons in the NHL with Arizona and Montreal in the meantime. With 96 games (8 goals, 9 assists), he never made it to the top league in the world.

Last season, he played 21 games for the Arizona Coyotes, which also features Swiss National Defenseman Janis Moser, and scored one goal. Meanwhile, in the AHL, he has 41 points in 48 games for the Tucson Roadrunners.

Dauphin would be Ambri’s foreigner number 6

Dauphin won the 2013 U18 World Championship on a team led by superstar Connor McDavid. The current Ajoie striker Frédérik Gauthier was also in the ranks of the Canadian gold team.

Should Dauphin’s signing be confirmed, Ambri would have six foreigners under contract, including goalkeeper Janne Juvonen, defenders Tim Heed and Jesse Virtanen, and forwards Michael Spacek and Filip Chlapik. With the latter, however, it is not certain that he will return to the Leventina. Rumors about a possible departure are becoming increasingly persistent in Ticino.
